My Natural Journey to Long, Strong, and Healthy Hair: Tips, Masks, and Routines

If Mother Nature gave an amazing gift, that was for sure my hair.

My first picture showing up my growing curls it was taken when I was 1 year old. At the age of three, my hair was already very long.

All my childhood I didn’t like my hair. I wanted to have straight hair like most of my girlfriends had. It was a struggle for me when my mom to brush my tangled curls because I had to deal every day with hair pull pain.

This struggle lasted a long time, until my teenage years when I started taking care of my hair by myself and I found out that I actually loved my hair.

Since then, I started a journey of discovering what types of routines work for me, what make my hair grow faster and stronger.

Now, after two decades I am still following a lot for tips and try different mask to naturally enhance the beauty of my hair.

We all know that taking care of our hair it’s not easy and it takes time and patience, especially if you are dealing with long or curly hair.

In this article I would love to share with you my favorite natural hair mask, routines, and natural growth tips that have helped me maintain healthy, shiny curls over time.

My Natural Hair Mask to Promote Strength and Growth

Keep in mind that you don’t have to purchase at once all the ingredients I mention below.

Start with the ones you have in your kitchen. Choose at least three of the mentioned oils and an egg yolk (or two), depending on your hair length. For better results use organic ones if you can.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg yolk – Rich in protein and biotin; it strengthens your hair.
  • 2 Tbs of castor oil – the best in my opinion for hair growth.
  • 1 Tbs of coconut oil – it helps with moisture and keeps hair soft and shiny.
  • 1 Tbs of olive oil – packed with fatty acids and protect against damage.
  • 1 Tbs of avocado oil – Full of vitamins A, D, and E, it nourishes the scalp, repairs dry ends, and adds elasticity to hair.
  • 1 Tbs of hemp oil – Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, it strengthens brittle hair.
  • 1 Tbs of apple cider vinegar – adds instant shine to your hair.
  • Few drops of Vitamin E oil (optional) – supports healthy hair follicles.
  • Few drops of Vitamin A oil (optional) – Helps the scalp produce natural oils, keeping your hair hydrated and preventing dryness.
  • Liquid of vitamin C (optional) – Boosts collagen production, which is essential for strong, resilient hair.

How to use it:

  • Mix all the ingredients into a glass bowl preferable.
  • Apply it on your scalp massaging very well for 10 minutes.
  • After applying it cover your hair with a shower cap.
  • Leave it on for a couple of hours or overnight (preferable).
  • Wash your hair with lukewarm water for removing the mask, using a natural shampoo.
  • Rinse it well, then apply shampoo again until your hair is very clean.
  • After cleanse apply natural hair conditioning for moisturizing and rinse very well.
  • Brush your hair when you are done cleaning.

I recommend you applying the mask on wet hair for better effects. Apply it at least once a week.

After one month you’ll see the results. Give it a chance and be patient, you’ll start seeing improvements slowly. For faster results you can use the mask two times a week.

You’ll notice a longer and stronger hair and less breakage.

Below I am sharing with you more natural routines and tips. I followed them for over two decades and I highly recommend applying in your rejuvenating hair journey.

Natural routines and tips to promote strength and hair growth:

  • For shinning apply a few drops of apple cider vinegar on your hair while rinsing. Do not worry the scent will go away fast.
  • For defining your curls, I use aloe vera gel straight from the plant. After you get out of shower apply on your wet hair a little bit of aloe vera juice. It replaces your hair spray, hair foam and curl definer.
  • Spray a little bit of natural scent. You can use a small glass spray bottle. Add in it three drops of organic essential oil, whichever you like and fill it up with water. Spray your hair with it while wet or after is dried.
  • Avoid washing your hair every day. Frequent washing damage your hair taking its essential natural oils that keep it hydrated and healthy.
  • Massage your scalp regularly. Besides relaxation this simple habit stimulates blood circulation, helping the hair follicles to be better nourished. Try to do this massage at least 1-2 times a week, using fingertips (not nails) to activate circulation and encourage healthy hair growth.
  • Put up your hair when you sleep. This will help you avoid splitting of the tips.
  • Swap your pillow cover for a natural silk one. Silk minimizes friction, thus preventing splitting of the tips, tangling and tearing of your hair. Traditional pillowcases absorb moisture from the hair, while silk keeps it moisturized.
  • Try to not wash your hair with very hot water. It can harm your hair. High temperatures remove the natural oils of your hair, leaving it dry and frizzy. Instead, try washing your hair with lukewarm water. It’s gentle enough to clean it without damaging, and you can finish with a quick rinse of cool water to help seal the cuticle and boost shine.
  • Avoid heat in your hair. Try to minimize the use of heat styling appliances such as curler, hair plate or dryer. Excessive heat damages the hair over time, so let your hair dry naturally whenever you can. And when you really want to hairstyle your hair, apply thermal protection spray.

Besides masks, tips and routines is crucial to have the right supplements in your diet if your goal is a healthy hair, especially when you are on the go all the time and don’t take enough nutrients from your food.

My favorite supplements I use for hair health:

  • Multivitamin supplements – When choosing a multivitamin make sure it contains: Vitamin A, B, C, D, Iron, Magnesium, Selenium, Niacin, Iodine and Zinc. They all provide essential nutrients for strong follicles, healthy scalp, and faster growth.
  • Collagen Peptide – Boost your collagen levels, as this will bring strength and elasticity to your hair.
  • Ashwagandha – Helps balance stress hormones (cortisol), which can reduce stress-related hair loss.
  • Turmeric – Anti-inflammatory, supports scalp health, and improves nutrient delivery to follicles.
  • Saw Palmetto – May block DHT, a hormone linked to hair thinning, supporting fuller hair.
  • Walnut oil – High in omega fatty acids, it nourishes hair and prevents breakage.
  • Pumkin Seed oil – Promotes hair growth and density by nourishing follicles with zinc and fatty acids.

Finding the right way to take care of your hair is a journey. Not everything will work for everyone in the same way.

It’s crucial to introduce constantly new hair tips into your daily lifestyle and discover what’s best for you and your type of hair.

Your hair will thank you later.

If you have other natural hair routines, you are welcome to share them with me.

Take care of your hair naturally!
