If there I were to make a small list of things that bring me joy every day, I would say the smell of the coffee I sense every morning, when the coffee maker grounds the beans into small pieces, is one of my favorites on my list.
After this one, I would add the following:
The bookstore that has spots where you can sit and read for hours and feel the smell of ink on a new printed book.
The atmosphere of the airports where there are floating in the air unlimited dreams, emotions, and possibilities.
The taste of dark chocolate when you need something sweet to reward yourself after completing a task that was important for you.
The morning sunshine that tries to get inside the house, finding room somehow at the corner of the blind.
Watching documentaries and still discovering new things about elephants, penguins, and turtle—all my favorite animals.
The cozy cotton sweaters that I would wear on a rainy Sunday, laying on the couch and getting lost into a good book.
The taste of homemade cinnamon cookies that you would dip in your latte in a late afternoon.
To order books online and to be happy twice, when I order them and when I receive them.
The taste of sardines that mostly everyone else hates.
The escape under a tree somewhere away from everyone, where I can lay down and enjoy a good daydream.
To have an unplanned lunch picnic with a friend on a random day.
To watch old movies from the 1990s and before.
To send cards to friends from the countries I travel to.
The flavor of the crepes I make when I am miss the taste of the ones my grandma used to make.
The songs I hear randomly that remind me of moments from my childhood.
To touch the small humid noses of little pets.
To write quotes down from the books I read.
The atmosphere of old-style fancy hotels, when you feel like a movie character once you walk inside the tall rooms of the lobby.
Watching my parents opening the presents I got them for Christmas.
Picking my own berries like on the old summer days when during summer breaks we were going to the mountains and climb hours to find some.
Admiring the colors of the ocean that look diverse at different times of the day and never getting bored to watch them for hours.
I dare to believe that each of us has a small list of things that make us happy and bring the joy we need to keep our minds and souls happy and healthy.
